I am once again running a marathon in support of Research Autism, this time in Edinburgh. This charity is now firmly on the map and has funding in place for a number of small but necessary research projects and for a unique web-based source of information for the whole autism community on available interventions or treatments. However, we are only touching the surface. Autism is now a major national issue with reported cases of suicide and infanticide where families hae been driven to desperate measures as a consequence of a lack of help and the day-to-day stress of living with autism. We need significant funds to make some major breakthroughs.
Research Autism is the only charity exclusively dedicated to research into intervention in autism. It commissions, carries out and supports high quality, independent research into new and existing health, education, social and other interventions. Its goal is the improvement of quality of life and outlook for those affected and those around them. Please help us to help those who suffer from autism by sponsoring my 2007 marathon.
