The Challenge: (latest update 06/03/2012)

To canoe from Northampton to Peterborough in 3 days
18th, 19th & 20th April 2012

All funds raised for:-

The event was devised and planned by Rob Mallett who will also lead the team when they set out on the challenge. Other confirmed team members are (more to follow, contact Rob if interested):

Karl Hodgkinson - responsible for marketing the challenge

Angus Wilson - visionary (this is his dream) and team motivation

Nick Skillet - paddler

Stuart Ridd Jones - paddler

Stuart McLester - paddler

This week's training anecdote:

We had another swimmer at the weekend with Stu Ridd-Jones taking a quick dip whilst portaging at Islip Lock. An encouraging weekend, with a good straight 13 mile paddle behind us, you never know, we might actually be able to do this!

Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals with the broadest range of dedicated, children’s healthcare specialists under one roof in the UK. The hospital’s pioneering research and treatment gives hope to children who are suffering from the rarest, most complex and often life-threatening conditions, from across the country and abroad. Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity needs to raise £50 million a year to help rebuild and refurbish Great Ormond Street Hospital, provide vital up-to-date equipment and fund research into better treatments for the children. You can help Great Ormond Street Hospital to provide world class
care for their patients and families.

Day 2 complete as all 3 kayaks complete today's marathon leg. The team are tired but pleased that the day is over. Just time to get cleaned up before another night's busy fund raising. Just 18 miles left tomorrow with hopefully the wind at their backs.

19/04/12 21:28

First day over and all 3 kayaks finished on schedule. Angus the swan attacked but not quite as viciously as in training, so no capsizes today. Team are tired but pleased with performance. Now ready for the big one tomorrow - bring it on!

18/04/12 17:29

Jack and the team get some publicity in the press: http://www.northantset.co.uk/news/local/paddle-power-is-to-help-jack-1-3743330

18/04/12 08:38

Today is the big day and the team will be putting the kayaks in the water at around 10am where the Nene meets the Grand Union Canal in Northampton. Last night the £5,000 total was passed - thanks to everyone for that. MFAIK will be in the Evening Telegraph tonight!
