Since its foundation, the value of MAIC's medical aid has totallied over £2.2m and has benefited 24 paediatric hospitals located in the North, South and Centre of Iraq, most of which received several medical deliveries. MAIC's shipments have included, apart from medicines and surgical supplies, 28 new incubators, 2 resuscitators, 3 blood gas analysers, 2 complete three-bed intensive care units wheelchairs and crutches. A significant part of MAIC's funds are spent on cancer drugs amounting to 25% of its total funds. It is estimated that MAIC has been able to save the lives of and provide treatment for more than 190,000 children. Currently, MAIC is helping paediatric hospitals in Iraq by supplying medicines and equipment and sponsoring short term training programs for Iraqi doctors in UK hospitals. The need for improving the health of children is vast. However MAIC's objective for the medium term is to rehabilitate paediatric hospitals by providing medicines especially for the treatment of cancers and improving mental health care for children.
