Many, many thanks for taking the trouble to visit my fundraising page which has been set up to assist with the raising of £3,000 sponsorship over the course of the next few months for the benefit of the International Childcare Trust CycleTanzania 2009 Challenge.
This event will take place between 2nd and 11th October 2009 when I, together with 30/40 others from all backgrounds, ages and walks of life, will cycle across Tanzania from Dar Es Salaam to the Uluguru mountains and thence down to Morogoro and finally to Dar some 300/400km later.
The International Childcare Trust is a charity which supports some of the world's most vulnerable children in Tanzania, Kenya, India, Sri Lanka and Cambodia who have been displaced through no fault of their own by unimaginable poverty, family dysfunction (including dreadful abuse, neglect and exploitation), armed conflict and disease, most notably AIDS. These children include, but are not limited to, street children, child labourers and child combatants.
The purpose of theTanzanian projects, 'Orphans and Vulnerable Children' and 'Healthcare and Hope for Children living with HIV/AIDS' is to provide access to basic health care, psychological support, access to basic education and placement into primary schooling and the 'Street Side School,' which is a rehabilitation and reconciliation centre, for street children and the most vulnerable children.
Please remember these children have been surviving by engaging in activities such as child labour, scavenging for food, drug trafficking and theft. The boys are sexually abused through sodomy; the girls are forced into prostitution and early pregnancies. They are exposed to STIs and HIV.
So may I ask for your help to raise my sponsorship of £3,000 of which £2,000 must be raised by 24 July 2009 and the balance of £1,000 by 11 September 2009.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me. International Childcare Trust will receive the money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, an additional 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, can be generated by your donation.
Please help, for the sake of the children.
