The 7th of August 2010.........A date for your diaries. David Collins and Stuart Roberts will be heading for Paris on a 6 day enduring adventure to raise money for the Five Stars Scanner Appeal. An organisation that with our and your help aims to raise £1 Million for a brand new state of the art MRI scanner for the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. It is a charity close to both of our hearts because without the Manchester Childrens Hospitals the David Collins story would have ended right there in 1985. In turn.... with no David Collins, Stuart Roberts would be without a comrade ready to face the perils of the English channel and the task of cycling on the "French" side of the road.
I know there are hundreds of charities out there that you can donate to but if we can be bothered to cycle to Paris with Zero cycling talent then it would be nice if you could spare at least a couple of pounds to 'Ensure the little people have a better chance at becoming BIG people' (Great Pun).
Seriously; the 5 Star Scanner Appeal is a great cause, just have a look at the link to the left hand side and you can see what its all about and see some of the other fund raising events that are going on as we speak.
Make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. I cannot stress this enough so tick the 'gift aid' box when you donate and the charity can claim an extra 28% of what you donate on top from the government ( basically reclaimg what you paid in tax on that donation).
