Why your donation matters

The Mandala Trust is a UK based Charity working in partnership with a variety of grass roots organisations overseas..including The Khuphuka Project in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa; Ludoteca Children’s Centre in Pisco, Peru and Yellow River Soup Kitchen in Xian, China.

The Mandala Trust aims to help people from the poorest and most socially marginalised groups within society. We work in partnership with local people and organisations to alleviate poverty and suffering.

We believe it is the right of every individual to live a life of dignity and safety.

At the centre of all that we do is a belief in the power of simple acts of kindness.

Case study: donations in action

The Khuphuka Project is making a big difference to people's lives.

Lungi (name changed to ensure confidentiality) is an 8 year old girl who is orphaned and lives with her grandmother. Lungi is HIV+. When one of our Community Care workers first started to work with her, the grandmother had taken the advice of a sangoma to not use ARV medication thinking it to be poison. The management and the CCW gradually built a relationship with the grandmother and Lungi, providing information, counselling and support. The grandmother finally requested us to take Lungi to the clinic as she was so ill and gave permission to start ARV medication. Our Information and advocacy workers advocated and secured a child support grant which added a vital income to the household. Our youth gardening project provided a high yielding food garden for long term healthy food. The family continues to be supported by the Khuphuka Project. Lungi is now a happy healthy child who fully participates in school.
