Any one of us could find ourselves homeless, it could happen easier than you realise. 

 

Many people don’t have the friends and family that we rely on so much in our day-to-day lives.  Just stop and think for a second what would you do if you did not have any family or friends to fall back on in times of great need.  You may think surely everyone has the support that we are so used to, however the sad reality is that many people in our country don’t have this luxury!

 

Shelter get involved and help people before it gets to the point that someone ends up alone and homeless with no one to turn to.  They also provide advice and help in finding sheltered accommodation to those that already find themselves in this unfortunate situation. These drop in night shelters provide people with a safe and warm place to stay, clean clothes, food and also the opportunity to get back on their feet by providing support, training and direction. 

 

I’ve always wanted to help and volunteer in some way and I find myself in a time in life where I can start to give something back.

 

I need to raise £2,600 to achieve this goal and raise much needed funds for Shelter.

The Bike Athon Challenge – Saturday 30^th April 2011

Taking place near the Pease monument on High Row, Darlington Town Centre, which has kindly been given free on the day by Darlington Borough Council.

 

To help support Mandy and raise funds, BoxFit Proprietors Davy and Henry Ward, are sponsoring the Bike Athon and dedicated Staff, members of BoxFit, and friends will be taking part in a Bike Athon Challenge.

 

The challenge on the day is to cycle 100 miles, all the volunteers will each cycle non-stop for around 30 minutes, covering approximately 10 miles each.

 

 I am also car booting every Sunday raising funds from very generously donated items from family and friends.  Is is proving a great way to raise the monies needed.
