Hi im Marc Galloway im 32 and live in Bridport Dorset ,And this is my story.About 11 years ago my mother was told that she had the first sighns of parkinsons disease we were all very shocked my brother , two sisters and I .mum was always active and working hard every day in a care home were she also lived in as assistant mannager.I didnt take much notice of what i was being told at the time and tryed to pretend i hadnt heard it but as time went on i could see my mother start to change her movement started to go at first and her left arm become week and started to shake, but mum being mum still found the strengh to get up and go to work and help those people that needed her knowing that one day she may be in a home(very strong woman my mum x).After a few years mum was unable to do her job and we had to find her a new home wich we did and it was warden control we all thought that was the best thing to do.mum soon settled in i thought that was guna be it forever( sorted )but how wrong i was this was just the begining. The amount of tablets mum had to take everyday was crazy at first she was ok to do them her self until her memory started to go and couldnt remember what she was doing only a few minutes ago.I was staying with mum at the time on the couch in the front room, she was ok somedays and would go up town do a bit of shopping have dinner with freinds everything would be fine but other days she couldnt get up the stairs so we decided it was time to get here a new place luckely there was one going over the road on the ground floor(Great mum can finaly settle down).so we moved in everything was fine for a couple of years, the tablets seemed to be working things were looking up until mother started to have hallusinations she thought they were real and trying to explain to someone what they are seeing is not really there is can drive you both crazy on its own, sometimes we would just sit there and cry together, then i would make mum laugh or do somethin stupid then we would pic ourselfs up and get on with our daily routine .I was looking after mum full time at this stage it began to take over my life it became part of me it was like we were living it together.Something had to give i was cracking up( was it me, was i going mad)mum ended up going down hill rapidly so we got some home help in wich was great for about a year.

We all decided by this time that mum needed more care than i could give her she couldnt walk without help she was finding it hard to even eat by herself it was very sad times i love my mum.The day came when we had found a room for her in a carehome they came and got her and i had to put here in the car.as i turned and waved i new that i was guna miss carein for her but i still had my own life to live.

So ive decided to go on a trek to raise money for those who have parkinsons and are going through what me and my lovley mother did..P.S mum is very happy were she is and getting more help now,and ive got me life back..lov ya mumxxx
