Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page as we prepare to run 26.2 miles through the streets of London on 21st April 2013.

Nicky: I've been living with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma for a long time now, and have chemo on a regular basis. When I was first diagnosed I was devastated and the treatment can be gruelling at times but I am so lucky to have people around me who have helped me to learn to cope with it.  Macmillan are a massive source of support for me and I'm so proud to be a part of their running team.  They are the first people I speak to when I have questions and fears and seen to always know what to say. They have helped me in all sorts of ways from to advising me how to deal with the effects of chemo to what to do with my nails and hair (or lack of it!!!)  I still have a long road to travel but in the meantime I'm trying to do something proactive and positive, yes it may be insane and a lot of people think I can't do it but I'm trying to stand up to cancer and I know there are people who believe in me (or who just know how stubborn I am!)

Marc : In 2007 I lost my father to a brain tumour after a short battle. During that time, we received amazing support from the Macmillan nurses, who talked to the whole family, providing us with comfort and information and reassuring my mum and dad in an incredibly sad time. I owe them a debt of gratitude for their kindness, and my way of saying thanks for that is to help raise money to support Macmillan, so other families affected by cancer can receive the same support. And of course, I'm also supporting the awesome Nicky Lopez, running with me and fighting a very personal battle of her own against cancer. She is an amazingly strong, smart and funny person who refuses to let this disease stop her from enjoying life, and I am hugely proud to be running a ridiculous distance with her through the streets of London.

The Macmillan nurses work tirelessly to support people living with cancer and do a fantastic job in helping people cope with the changes it brings. The nurses we have both known are inspirational, kind, caring, a mine of information and have helped us through some incredibly difficult times.

Please help them to continue their incredible work.
Please dig deep and donate now.

It doesn't matter how much, even a pound would help.
Then ask your family and friends to do the same, as many as you can.

Help us to stand up to cancer.

Together we can be unstoppable.

Thank you :) xxx
