THE LOOOOOOOOOONG DANCE
all 48 hours of it - nonstop
of which I'm absolutely terrified
I have just entered the last week of preparing for the Long Dance Ceremony in Somerset. Every summer the Long Dance raises money for charities chosen by the 120 participating dancers - dancers who will this year suffer, sweat and celebrate by moving nonstop between 6pm Saturday 9 July and 6pm Monday 11 July.
I will be dancing my 48 hours there also - dances for The Simon Community (www.simoncommunity.org.uk), an independent homeless charity I used to volunteer for and that does what really matters: accept, befriend and love. Fiercely independent, Simon can speak its mind and work with an unconditional, big compassionate heart with street homeless in London. It has an attitude and ethos much needed in Tory times.
Simon is also is entirely dependent on charitable funding, so every donation really helps. Any spare change, no matter how small, is gratefully received and genuinely appreciated. If you want to donate but just not online, please let me know.
So far I have been really humbled by people's generosity. Thank you.
