HI,
In september i will be walking the Thames path covering 184miles from the Cotswolds to the Thames barrier where it ends, then onto Southend in Essex where the Thames joins the English Channel, completing the full 215miles of the river Thames.
I happen to have some time on my hands, and this is something i want to do, i have always been interested in rivers, boats, bridges, locks and everything to do with rivers, and obviously fishing.
It is not practical for me to have a holiday at the moment, and i want to get away so i will be taking Candy with me, and having a camper van parked in various places on route, a bit of camping, and when near the Chertsey stretch, will probably pop home for the night.
To make this more interesting and worth while, both me and Candy will be raising money.
This can usually be acheived in 2 weeks, but i have allowed 20 days leaving on the 06/09/09 and hopefully returning on 26/09/09.We have done quite a bit of practising walking many parts of the river in the evenings and weekends, but are still unfamiliar with stretches further a field.
We will walk through some big cities and towns such as Oxford, Reading, Windsor,Hampton Court and London.
We hope to average appox 12miles a day, over 3 stints and have a day off and 2 half days off on the way.
Under no circumstances shall i push myself or Candy to any limits that it becomes uncomfortable, it will be at stroll pace, and if it takes longer, then it does.We currently walk appox 8 miles a day over 2 stints and 10 miles on a Sunday, with no problems and energy to spare.
I shall be raising money for Diabetes Awareness and Candy for Support Dogs.
If you wish to read about diabetes go to my other page i have sent, if you wish to read about Candy and sponsor her, go to Candys page.
If you wish to know more, please dont hesitate to contact me. markncandy.fish@btinternet.com
Or by all means pop in and see me at Addlestone Pet Suppies before i go, where you can also catch up on my progress once ive started , and likewise at The George Pub, Chertsey Road, Hatch Hill, Addlestone, where there will also be a route map updating my progress, and no doubt a drink or two on my return, and probably before i go!
Many many thanks
Mark x
sponsor closes 26/09/09.
