Story

Update 25 May.  I just ran the Canterbury half-marathon.  The weather was good.  It had stopped raining and there was a nice breeze.  The sun came out a few miles before the end, but the beautiful Kent countyside afforded a lot of shade and some stunning views.   The hills might be lovely to look at, but not good to run up.  How can you start and finish at the same place, but run uphill the whole 13 miles???  Two down, three to go.  I'm really hoping to raise my £1000 target to help NSPCC keep children safe.

Update 12th May   I ran my first half-marathon this year on Sunday 11th May.  It was very, very hot and sunny and I got very sun burned.  They ran out of water at 10 miles and my time was very slow.

But I will keep going whatever the weather and your support for NSPCC is what will keep me going.  Thank you!

_______________________________________________________________

This year I am running FIVE half-marathons.  Two in May (two weeks apart), one in September, and two in October (one week apart).  In May I will be running in Tewkesbury and Canterbury.  I've also entered the Windsor race in September.  In October I will run the first London half-marathon, and I will end by running in Henley.  My best ever time was 2h 20m in Henley last year, so I'm hoping to run faster than that at sometime this year.

I have pledged to raise £1,000 for NSPCC, so please help me to reach that target.  Think of all the miles I will have to run to keep in training - since March I've been doing 20 miles a week, which will be over 500 miles just to train!!!

Your sponsorship is important to me - it gives me the incentive and the motivation every time I put my trainers on - so think of the kids that need your support and help NSPCC protect kids from abuse.  Thank you.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.  I will make sure I make a donation to make up for any JustGiving charges on your on-line donations.

NSPCC will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Mark.
