Hello
The day of the run: Monday 25th May
A beautiful day, 9000 other runners, TV cameras, support team of Mum, Mandy and Sam, the London 10,000 was a just a fantastic experience. The race went really well for us both. We had a great run and we're on tenterhooks to find out our official times. We want to thank everyone who sponsored and encouraged us, and also the Jubilee Sailing Trust for giving us the places on this great event.
Newsflash!
Mark's time: 44.03, a PB and ninth in his age group!!
Anne's time 49.03 (at least it was under 50!)
Anne ran with a picture of Dad on her T-shirt. We hope he's been keeping an eye on our progress and is pleased that the fund-raising target for the JST has been achieved! It was Dad that got us both running in the first place and it seems nicely fitting that we can finish off one of his projects in this way.
Helping the Jubilee Sailing Trust was one of Dad's long-term projects. He helped build the Lord Nelson and was a crew member on board Tenacious. The JST give disabled and able people the chance to experience the thrill and adventure of life aboard a tall ship and be involved in almost every activity on board.
Before he died, he asked the family to carry on raising money for the JST. So we are going to run the London 10,000 on May the 25th. And we are asking for sponsors
Mark:
To add a little spice to the project, I want to celebrate reaching my 50th birthday by reaching the finish line in under 50 minutes.
Anne:
And I just want to do my best to keep up with my big brother! (I knew I was in trouble when Mark turned up to the start with time splits tattooed on his forearm to achieve a 45 minute finish time!)
Newsflash! Dad wanted to support the JST by joining their 800 club and committing to raising £1000. He was too poorly by this stage to raise the money himself, so he asked us to help. Well, we've just hit the target, thanks to your generosity and everyone who has sponsored us. So, let's keep going and see how much more we can add!
Please would you sponsor my run for the Jubilee Sailing Trust. They have done amazing work, and with the help of people like you, they can do more.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
