My story

Hi there - thank you for taking the time to look at my fundraising web-page and for helping me to achieve the goals I have set.  Please dig deep and sponsor me for this excellent cause as I will be undertaking various challenges over the next year, some a lot more strenuous than others!

Event 1. - 3rd-5th May 2008 - Greater Manchester - The Longest Way Round

I completed a distance equivalent of 5 marathons in 3 days.  Day 1 - Walked 47 miles from Glossop, via Goyt Valley, Buxton, Macclesfield and Wilmslow to Poynton.  Day 2 - Cycled 48 miles from Poynton, via Bramhall, Cheadle & Gatley, Sale, Worsley, Atherton & Tyldesley, Bolton, Prestwich, Salford & Whitefield to Bury.  Day 3 - Ran 30 miles from Bury, via Rochdale, Middleton, Royton & Chadderton, Saddleworth and back to Glossop.  This was a total challenge of 125 miles, quite a feat I'm sure you will agree.

All of the locations mentioned above have active Round Tables that are within Area 46 Greater Manchester.  The local Round Tables provided support on route and I attended several of their events from local carnivals to duck races.  For more info about Round Table see www.roundtable.org.uk

Event 2. - 21st-22nd June 2008 - Parish Walk Isle of Man

This event involved walking non-stop through the night for 85 miles, touching the gates of each of the Island's 17 parish churches in less than 24 hours.  This race had 1500 + starters but only around 100 people finish it each year due to high levels of both physical and mental endurance needed, not to mention the support required to get you through the night.

I have completed the Parish Walk in just over 21 Hours and aim to break the 20 hour barrier by 2010!!

There have been numerous raffles held throughout the year and donations made by local Round Tables and of course the general public to date - long may it continue.

Cancer is something that has affected not only my family, but many of my friends as well.  The money raised will help me to complete an arduous trek through Peru in May 2009 and of course more importantly raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for all your support.
