| Thanks for visiting the "Flying Sporrans" fundraising page. Last year, 8 "Sporrans" took flight in an attempt to raise £2000 in memory of our mate and colleague Ian "Golden Sporran" Speedie, who died so suddenly and tragically whilst undergoing a heart operation in September 2008. There were supposed to be 10 of us last year but one pulled out early as illness prevented her from training, then a day after a 20 mile training ride and so as not to feel left out, Mark had a heart attack of his own and had to be content with sponsoring us instead. We started at 07:30 and quickly got up to speed, "this is great" we thought until coming to a halt 10 minutes later, nobody told us that 50,000 other people would be doing this as well - what a day to pick! 4 hours later we managed to get out of London and by 4pm we had all finished after an eventful journey. First to go was CJ who had a puncture - but no spare, Jesse then lost a pedal, Ped then lost a wing mirror "yes, he had a wing mirror?, Jesse then lost a chain guard, Andy then lost his energy, Jesse then lost his suspension and both wheels, Louise then lost the race up the beacon. LOL. Anyway, we all survived and all vouched "never again".......... however here we are again and we are proud to say that we are now 12 Sporrans. So what changed our minds? Well, Last year we hoped to raise £2k but raised nearly £3k!!! The aches and pains have healed Jesse has got a new bike and Ped has new mirrors! Mark has fully recovered from his heart attack and has been given a clean bill of health - so he will be joining us! Most importantly however is the memory of Ian is as strong as ever and this is the least we can all do to raise money for one of his favourite charities. Please, please sponsor the "Flying Sporrans" and help us to raise another £3k for the BHF. If you pledge £10 or more we will even let you meet us on the route and squirt us with water pistols although you will need quick reactions to catch us this year! Thank you from all of the team
