On Sunday the 28th of June Martha, Minnie, Abby and Charlie will be taking part in the Capital to Coast 2009. For the grown-ups this means a 60-mile cycle ride from London to Hove while the children will ride the final 30 miles of the course. It's quite a hilly course and everybody, the girls included, will have to ride over the Devil's Dyke! Like last year, we are riding for The Lily Foundation.
We welcome your support! Please read on and learn about who we are riding for.
Update: 17th of June 2009
Our training continues. Abby's standard training ride is back up to 3 laps of the Park and the girls have been out pedalling in the evening. We're all looking forward to the big day, now less than a fortnight away!
Update: 5th of May 2009
The girls have been working hard lately. First of all they decided to do some door-to-door canvassing. They made a leaflet that explained what they were doing, practiced their pitch and set out on a sunny morning. The result? They raised an amazing £52 from some very kind people in our street! Thank you SW14!
Over the weekend went out and got some miles in. We were in Derbyshire and we rode for 23 miles on the Tissington Trail. The girls did very well but we'll need to do some hill practice before the big day.
Finally we'd like to thank Heather, our first Mystery Donor!
The Lily Foundation:
Once again we are raising money to support The Lily Foundation which is providing both funding for those working in the field of Mitochondrial Disease and other metabolic disorders, and support for those affected by it.
Mitochondrial Disease isn't something you catch, it's something you're born with and it is incurable and deadly. The bottom line is that many of its victims are kids and babies, just like Lily Merritt.
We began to support The Lily Foundation because we know Lily's family. Late last year Abby became a director of the charity so we're more involved than ever. You can 100% confident that this is a very worthy cause run by committed people. We are certain that money you donate will be well spent and will ultimately make somebody's life better.
About JustGiving:
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Lily Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer and select the options to use Gift Aid, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
We hope you can sponsor us and we'll let you know how things are progressing.
