About Martha Trust
ounded in 1983 as a Christian based Trust, Martha Trust has built an excellent reputation for the quality of its work with children and adults.
Originally, the home was built to accommodate eight residents, but over the years the home has seen many changes and is now two small homes within a home providing 12 residential places as well as a respite care place serving a further 10 families.
Frances House, its children's home, was opened by the Princess Royal in 1999 and provides four life care places and one respite place which supports a further seven children and their families.
General facilities include a large hydrotherapy pool, various sensory therapies, a music room, a wonderful garden designed by the BBC’s Charlie Dimmock and a new day care area.
Martha Trust has continued to develop steadily and now employs more than 60 staff headed up by a small management team responsible to the Board of Trustees
The overall philosophy is to concentrate on people as individuals and do everything in the charity’s power to help them lead as normal and happy lives as possible and in the process to realise their full potential.
