Story

Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Once again I have signed up for the Great Manchester Run... will I ever learn?

As you know, athletic pursuits are not at the top of my "fun things to do" list, (well... if I  actually had one they wouldn't be!). This means I need an extra incentive to find the motivation to get out on the road or to the gym to train... and that's where I hope you come in!

As I've done the run before I know that with sufficient training I should get round (though I won't enjoy it). However at this stage I'm not sure I've done sufficient training and as an extra element to earn sponsoring I'm trying to set a personal best time of under 60 minutes so I need a bit of help.

As anyone who ever played football with me will tell you I've never been blessed with pace so this isn't something I'm looking forward to.... I've got to beat my previous best time by nearly 2 minutes... which doesn't sound a lot but I couldn't speak after the last race for about an hour so I don't think there's much left in the tank... plus I'm a year older and only go two speeds... slow and stop.

Accordingly I'm hoping that you will sponsor me which I hope will be sufficient inspiration to lift my ageing knees to get me over the line in 59mins 59 seconds or less. Bekah has agreed to be my pacemaker so you might want to sponsor me in sympathy to her putting up with my whinging!

As you might expect I'm running as part of TEAM HALLÉ to raise funds for the Hallé. In these credit crunching times we need as much support as we can find so what ever you can do to help will be greatly appreciated.

The money we raise will support the Hallé’s amazing Youth, Education and Community work. - creating opportunities to hear and get involved in music for people that might not usually have the opportunity to access it. The Hallé works with the young and the elderly, with schools, youth groups, young offenders and those with special needs in projects based at The Bridgewater Hall and in all areas of the community across the Greater Manchester region and beyond.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Charles Hallé Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So, if you can, please sponsor me now!

Thank you!
