My story

Dear all,

Craig and I both finished the London marathon yesterday. I finished it in 4 hours 56 and Craig finished in 4 hours 59 minutes so considering it was the hottest London marathon of all time we’re both delighted. We both managed to run at least 24 – 25 miles of the race and run together for 21 of them. Because of the heat our aim was to cross the line in one piece!

I really struggled with the last mile and was running on fumes, whereas Craig ran the last mile in about 7 minutes, the man on the main speaker at the finish line announced ‘Craig you better slow down mate or you’re going to hurt in the morning’ as he sprinted past everyone at the finish line with a big smile on his face. He was so determined to finish in 5 hours and did just! He got a huge cheer off of the crowd!

Craig and I would like to thank you all for your generosity which has helped others fighting leukaemia. We think we have raised somewhere between 3 and 4 thousand pounds; we will give you the final figure once we have collected all of the sponsor forms. Without people like you charities like leukaemia care wouldn’t exist.

Despite the last month or so of infections I don’t have any regrets running. The Dr said they were just bad timing and nothing to do with the running as I would have got them anyway because of my weak immune system. It made the challenge a little harder for me but I would do it all again next week for such a great cause.

It’s not too late to sponsor us if you haven’t already by either asking me for a sponsor form or donating online.

I will add some race photos to my caringbridge site when they are available. They should be available within 72 hours of the race finish. You can also view my journey from the start of my transplant by clicking on this link:
