Story
This August we will trek through Ladakh in the remote Indian Himalayas to raise vital funds for Voluntary Services Overseas. This trek with VSO will be a big physical challenge for us with 5-12 hours a day of trekking at altitudes of up to 4,000 metres, in extreme temperatures and sleeping in tents.
Mary: At 18 I was a VSO volunteer in India, teaching more than 40 children in a small village in Bihar, Northern India and in Nepal helping Tibetan refugees become more numerate. So this area is special to me and it will be my first return visit to India since volunteering. The VSO experience made me passionate about the difference education and improving skills can make to people's lives, hence my career in lifelong learning.
Adrian: You are not funding a jolly for us; we will pay all the costs of the trip. Everything you give will go directly to VSO to fund work in the most disadvantaged communities in the world. You can find out more about VSO on http://www.vso.org.uk
Please help us climb this very big mountain! Having seen VSO in action, we know that with each step of your sponsorship we can make a difference.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Your donation will go directly to VSO. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: VSO will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So, thank you for your support in sponsoring us now.
Mary and Adrian
