My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

The event:

Enough with the genericism, so yea, as MANY of you will know my hair is LOOONNNNNGGGG, based on several years of growing it. Several of you may also be aware that I planned to NEVER ever cut it again but with all the pressure from YOU GUYS to chop the tail someone actually suggested doing this, which I guess I can deal with. The charity is Lifeblood, and I plan to shave my head bald on the 31st of May, a fortnight after National thrombosis week. So go on, what have you to lose! On the other hand, me, I have maybe 5 years of pride, effort, stubborness and rebellion on the line, that just a couple of quid each can be ended in one foul swoop of a set of clippers... And you know I'm gonna look terrible with a skinhead, so if nowt else it'll be good to mock me.

The charity:

Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity endeavours to reflect all aspects of thrombosis care and research in the UK. It came about because of the lack of awareness amongst the general public, politicians and health professionals, of the dangers of thrombosis. Indeed thrombosis is arguably the largest cause of death in the UK, and probably in the developed world.

The aim of the Charity is to raise awareness and educate everyone about thrombosis and its prevention, as well as fund relevant research aimed at filling the gaps that exist in current medical knowledge. Our “Stop the Clots” and “National Thrombosis Week” campaigns have generated widespread coverage about the risks of thrombosis and we are pleased to have been instrumental in ensuring that preventing thrombosis is now being vigorously pursued as part of the Nation’s future healthcare strategy by lobbying Parliament through the All Party Parliamentary Thrombosis Group.

The Reason:

My family had never heard of "Pulmonary Embolisms" when my father fell victim to a fatal one 3 years ago May 5th. The efforts of Lifeblood to raise awareness of thrombosis and it's true prevalence and devastating effects are something I'd gladly sacrifice my hair to help.

and back to the standard bumpf....

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
