Great swim tonight with Scott. Really getting progress with the Freestyle. Managed 100 metres comfortably for first time!
Welcome to my page. I am doing the Loch Ness Monster Swim 2012, a one mile open-water race from shore to shore across Loch Ness. I am raising vital funds for The Equality Network.
My Charity
The Equality Network have been working for LGBT Equality and Human Rights in Scotland for 15 years. The Repeal of Section 28, Civil Partnerships, the Hate Crime bill, Equal Marriage and tackling homophobia in sport are just the tip of the iceberge. We all have a lot to thank the Equality Network for - thier hard work goes much unrecognised.
My challenge
At this time (three months before the race), I can't swim two lenths of a 25 meter pool without stopping to get my breath back; and even then just about everyone in the pool are overtaking me at full speed. As well as that, I have a lifetime fear of being in water which I can't see below me and don't know what's there.
So all in all, I'm absolutely nervous as hell. With less than 4 months to get in shape, I'll need all the support I can get!
My ask to you
I hope to raise a huge £1,000. It's a tall order, but this is a huge physical and psychological challenge for me. All you have to do is make a donation.

Fantastic news that we are now over £300 with Gift Aid towards my fundraising total. A huge thank you to everyone who has dontated so far. I will be thinking of you when I do my first open water session tonight in the Pentland Hills reservoir!
Got my first swimming lesson this Saturday. 8.30am. Surely that is worth supporting alone! Matt
