I've done it!

After 13 hours and 20 minutes, I finally touched French soil.  It was an amazing adventure with many highs and lows but one which I could not have achieved without the support of my crew, friends and family and most of all my wife, Lecia and beautiful daughter, Asha.
I would like to thank everyone who has kindly donated to Christies and I am sure the money will be put to excellent use.  Not letting you down was one of the thoughts that kept me going during the difficult times.

Pre- Swim Notice:

Thank you  taking the time to visit my fund raising page.

As you now know, I will be swimming across the English Channel from the 24th September this year.  Hopefully I will be done before the end of the year!

I will be up against over 21 miles, very cold water, jellyfish, floating debris (of all types) and one or 600 rather large boats.

Why on earth is Matthew doing this?... I hear you ask.

Well, you may be surprised to hear that more than one in three people will get some form of cancer at some point in their life.  This not just affects the individual but is also very distressing for friends and relatives.

There are many charities carrying out invaluble work to help people affected by cancer and research new treatments with the ultimate goal to make cancer a disease of the past.

We have one such charity on our doorstep - Christies.

Christie’s raises money for The Christie in Manchester. This is one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe, treating about 40,000 patients every year.

They raise funds for both patient care and groundbreaking research into cancer treatment and are currently raising money to build a new £35 million patient treatment centre which will include the largest early clinical trials unit in the world, where the latest cancer treatments will be pioneered.

The simple fact is that unless we are very fortunate, we all will be affected by cancer in some way.  We should do all we can to irradicate this disease.

Thank you once again for visiting my fund raising page and for your generosity.
