Just at quick update
It's now March 09 and I am doing great. I'm walking everywhere and beginning to talk. The doctors are happy with me so we are all enjoying life.
My grandma is still busy fundraising for the 2 charities we support and will soon be donating more money from several events she has been involved in with Preston NFU Ladies which is just fantastic - lots of hugs and kisses for her
So watch this space for a new total and if you have visited me here please please please if you can just give a little to help those other children like me who only have a little heart
Thank you Luv Matt x
BALLOON RACE
WOW what a great day we released 1,000 red balloons and got our picture in the local paper. it was a fantastic sight to see the balloons floating away each one representative of a heart child. The furthest one reached Norfolk on the very same day. Thank you to all those who supported us - watch out for more events in the future x
Hi everyone
Just to tell you I have now had my operation at The Evelina in London and though it hurt lots and lots I am happy to be back at home again with my family. All the doctors and nurses were easily charmed when I turned on my best smiles and they looked after me really well. They all said I was a superstar and my Mum and Dad were amazed by me and how well I have done. I came home only 5 days after the op, I just wanted to see my big sisters again cause I missed them.
I am amazed by how generous everyone has been so far in donating to my page but now we want to keep going and raise even more, so please do donate even just a little bit then more families like mine can be helped by Little Hearts Matter.
Hello
I am Matthew and I am nearly 6 months old. I was born last November with a problem with my heart. Mum and Dad say its called hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). Thats fancy words for only half my heart works.
It meant that at 4 days old I needed a big operation in London, to help the blood get round my body. I rode in an ambulance in a special incubator with the blue lights flashing and going rather fast from Manchester to London. I spent my first 5 weeks in the Evelina Children's Hospital, St Thomas', half of that time in intensive care as I was very poorly and at 3 weeks old I had another operation.
Soon I am going back to London to have more open heart surgery as the next step to help my heart work a bit better.
I love being at home with my family especially my 3 big sisters. I love to smile alot and giggle. Mum feeds me special milk to help me grow as its all rather hard work and we go to see lots of different doctors and medical people in London, Liverpool and Preston where I live.
My family have organised a balloon race launching from my big sisters school on July 16th and other family and friends are doing things too. Buy a balloon for only £1.50 each by donating now and Mum will add you to the hundreds of others.
We are supporting Little Hearts Matter because they are a special little charity who help children just like me and their families. They have lots and lots of information on their website www.lhm.org.uk which helped us understand more about my heart.
Please help us raise this money and donate now.
You can also go to our other page www.justgiving.com/mattslittleheart where we are also raising money for the Evelina Children's Heart Organisation ECHO www.echo-evelina.org.uk as a thank you to the Evelina for looking after me so well. Without the expertise of the wonderful team there I wouldn't be here.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Little Hearts Matter will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
Love Matthew
