Thank you to all who donated to Macmillan Cancer Support for The Big Bike Ride. The amount so far is well over $15,000 (don’t have a pound sign on typewriter) with money still coming in which is great news. It is a wonderful charity with so much invaluable work going on.
I have been home for a while now with thoughts of the Bike Ride and how I coped. When Penny became ill and had to fly home to Scotland, I could have gone with her. There was too much at stake. I felt I had to go on as I would be letting people down--all the fund raising events that were taking place as I cycled, Macmillan Cancer Support, the trainers at the gym at The Ryan Centre, Stranraer  who had pushed me into shape, all the sponsors, the help and support from family and friends and of course, cousins John and Ruth who were base camp and with me all the way.
Little did I know what was to unfold as I cycled off, alone and afraid into the unknown. A film company called Triple Echo Productions made a documentary called “The Big Bike Ride” which was shown on BBC2 Scotland on the 12th November.
I stopped blogging on my web site   www.grannymave.co.uk   after I came home and a friend asked “Why”? I said “Who wants to read about cooking mince and tatties and cleaning the log cabin”?  It is great to be home, I love it but suddenly along comes a rush of adrenaline and I am off planning my next adventure. I know I had days in Canada when I wanted it all to end but it is a bit like having a baby, you soon forget the pain!!
I shall start the blog again when the wheels are in motion.
