Story
Thank you for visiting Max's page.
After a traumatic start with a rare condition called Gastroschisis, three operations and his first weeks in intensive care, the little fellow pulled a miracle out of the bag and came home. We mentioned in the Christening speech a few things about the Neo-Natal Unit at St. George’s where Max spent the first few weeks of his life. Having your baby fighting for their life in intensive care is a terrible ordeal. But ultimately a great leveller; because regardless of your health, class, wealth or Nationality, anybody’s child can potentially end up there.
The cost of caring for one baby in Neo-Natal is over £1000 per day. The charity, the Friends of Neo Natal Unit at St.Georges Hospital, Tooting, funds 90% of the equipment needed for the unit to function. They aim to raise £100,000 per year.
After what we saw - both in terms of the way all the babies were shown such care and love, and the way the St George's professionals dealt with Max, we always said we wanted to give something back.
Details to follow shortly on events we will be running / swimming / playing and enduring..... and how you can get involved and help. At this stage it's simply to get the site up and running. Mum and Dad are working hard to put wheels in motion and let's all get involved and say our personal thankyou to the people who save these little babies' lives every single day with limited resources and funding - which is why we want to do our bit to help.
Max was one of the lucky ones.... he made it. Please help other babies to make it too!
