My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

My 2009 challenge to support CARE International is "Long,  London & Leadville"!

Long: In January I will return to do the 80 mile "Town to Tring to Town" (T2T2T) for the second time ( http://www.tring2town.com/  ).  This race goes from the Town of London to Tring 40 miles away and then returns the following day.  I have last year's time of 18.5 hours as a target to meet and then beat.

London: In April I am signed up for my 5th London Marathon.  Always a great and varied experience and will be running with the CARE Team.

Leadville: In July I will attempt the Leadville Marathon in less than the 8 hour cut-off time.  This 26 mile race takes a fairly circuitous route that goes up and down a fair bit to eventually reach the top of the notorious Mosquito Pass.  This is at an elevation of 13,188 ft. and is a high mountain pass in the Mosquito Range in Colorado.  The total elevation gain is 6000 ft and the route is an out an back race on rough terrain. The one way profile is shown in the attached for those with a sense of humour:  http://www.nyx.net/~mwallace/LT_files/Marathon/Marathon_files/marapro.jpg

So I think you will agree I have laid out a challenging combination of experiences that will take me a little over 200km and keep me on my feet for some 30 hours in total while supporting CARE International.

I first came across CARE in Africa  ( http://www.careinternational.org.uk  ) when I was working Angola/Southern Africa a decade ago and was really impressed with what they do.  CARE is a great charity doing terrific work and this is the 5th year I have run for them.

Please sponsor me now!

I really appreciate you visiting my fundraising page and hope you will be willing to make a donation to help spur me along!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. All currencies are gratefully received and it is merely a quirk of the website that it is set up in £ Sterling (n.b. 1£ is circa US$1.50).

This website is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CARE International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Many thanks for your support!

Howard
