Thank you for visiting my 2009 London Marathon (LM) fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Following my first LM run in 2007 (the hot one!) I will again be running the 26 miles in support of the Childrens Liver Disease Foundation.
Like several thousand other children in this country, my daughter Katherine suffers from a chronic liver disease memorably called "autoimmune sclerosing cholangitis". The disease requires lifelong drug support and medical monitoring. However, Katherine leads a normal and active life and this is thanks both to her own determination and to the excellent support of the staff at Kings College Hospital in Denmark Hill and to the backing of the Children's Liver Disease Foundation.
The Children's Liver Disease Foundation funds invaluable research into liver diaseases and provides moral support and practical information to anxious patients and parents alike.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Liver Disease Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
I've started the ball rolling with £100 myself, so please sponsor me now for this good cause! I will also add an extra £200 if we reach my fundraising target of £2,000, so the more you give the poorer I should get - what more incentive do you need!
Many thanks for all your support.
Mike Cooper
P.S . I was myself also recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (which is another kind of autoimmmune disease). It is therefore quite likely I will have turned into a strawberry sherbet by the end of the run!
