This is the story behind why I have set up this JustGiving page.
This summer I will be taking part in a downhill mountainbike race in called the Megavalanche. Whilst doing this I thought it would be a great opportunity to raise money for charity. In particular my chosen charity of Re~Cycle.
What Re~Cycle do is collect unwanted, second-hand bicycles, they then repair them and ship them to which provides a sustainable method of transport and enhances the quality of life for the people who live there. When I first discovered this charity what I thought they were doing was great and made me realise how important transport was in a developing country and also the possibilities that something as simple as a bike could bring to peoples' lives. I felt that it was really empowering for people to have their own transport that they could afford to run and maintain themselves.
By donating money to Re~Cycle it will allow them to continue their good work - being able to keep shipping bicycles over to Africa and changing peoples' lives by giving them the chance to lift themselves out of poverty.
