My story

Metapraxis team completes the Three Peaks Challenge in under 23 hours...

Over Friday and Saturday 22nd-23rd June, a team from Metapraxis scaled  the three peaks Ben Nevis (1344 m), Scafell Pike (978 m), and Snowdon (1085 m) to raise money for Thames Reach, one of the key homelessness charities in London.

The challenge began at 5.50pm on Friday when Alan Payne, Matthew Cartwright and Andy Bache commenced the ascent of Ben Nevis, returning to their starting point just over 4 hours later.

The team then drove through the night to Seathwaite in Cumbria, where the ascent of Scafell Pike began at first light (3.15am).  Unfortunately, Matthew suffered a knee injury and had to return to base, leaving Alan and Andy to conquer the peak and return to Seathwaite in time for an 8.15am start for the drive to Snowdon.

Alan and Andy started their climb up Snowdon at 12.30pm, arriving back to base at Pen y Pass at 4.10pm.  They had completed the ascent of each of the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales in an outstanding time of 22 hours 20 minutes, with driving support provided by Matthew Cartwright, Harry Barham and Andrew Mosely.

Although this year's challenge has been completed, the team would very much value further donations to the important cause they have selected.

Thames Reach helps homeless and vulnerable people to live in decent homes, build supportive relationships and lead fulfilling lives. It runs services for the harder-to-reach rough sleeping population, including those with multiple health problems, mental health needs and with drug and alcohol dependency. The charity runs hostels, supported housing schemes, street outreach teams, tenancy support schemes and employment schemes for ex-homeless people.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Thames Reach will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
