Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: WheelPower gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
My name is Michael Lokuciejewski-Taylor and in April 2009, following months of intensive physical training, I am going to walk to the base camp of Mount Everest in Nepal. We will set out from the town of Lukla and trek to Phakding and onto the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. The walk takes us through the lush valleys of the Sagarmatha National Park where the only means of transportation between villages is bhy foot, climing gradually until we reach a high point at Kalapather.
As I am disabled and profoundly deaf, this will be a great personal achievement for me and the cost of the trek for myself and my companion has been personally funded.
However, I have also chosen to use the challenge to raise money for the disability charity "WheelPower" (registered charity no. 265498). This is a charity which provides wheelchairs specially adapted for sports activities for diabled children and is run in association with Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Sport plays a vital role in the rehabilitation of those with disabilities and can often be a catalyst for a more positive outlook on life.
I am hoping to raise £3,500 for the charity prior to setting off in April. Please don't feel under any obligation, but if possible I would appreciate any donation you could make towards this goal. All money pledged goes directly to the charity - and every penny counts!
In return for your support you will be helping improve the quality of life for hundreds of disabled children. If you wish I would be more than happy to wear your company t-shirt or carry a banner to the Base Camp and take some photos, just e-mail any infomation to Taylor.b@hotmail.co.uk. You can feature them in you company newsoletter or we could arrange an article in the local press.
Thankyou very much for reading my story and remember that no matter what you are able to give, it will improve the lives of many disabled children.
So please sponsor me now!
Kind regards
Michael Lokuciejewski-Taylor
