My story

Update 07/07/208:
The race scheduled start was 9:35 and I crossed the start at 10:15:25.

My time was 46 minutes!

Now if I could have seen ahead to avid all the obstacles which caused me to break my pace, I could well have come in under my target. :-)

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who came along on Sunday and supported me and the other runners from Acumen.

And thank you to everyone who has sponsored or otherwise help me throughout the build up to the event.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I just want to say firstly, please don't feel like I am pressurising you into making a donation.....

But  I did my first 10K last year in 58 minutes and this year I aim to run the British 10K in 45 minutes which is bordering on dangerous as being partially sighted, by the time I see something, I've already passed through it!! :-) (I’m hoping to follow someone else).

This event starts outside the legendary Hard Rock Cafe on Piccadilly. The route will take runners past central London's world famous historic and iconic landmarks.

Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: MS Trust will receive your money faster and if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you, so typical £10 donation is worth £11.93 or £11.85 for credit and debit cards respectively.

PS: My fundraising target isn't an arbitrary number; this is the cost of initial training for an MS specialist nurse.

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic neurological disease that affects the brain. I first encountered this during my second year at university, the lecturer for our Network Software module had gradually developed mild symptoms some 8 years earlier, but during that semester he started to deteriorate very quickly.

At the beginning of the academic year, only a slight limp evidenced any problem. By Christmas he found difficulty in going up or down stairs, and was clearly being distracted by the pain. By the Summer he was gone, forced into early retirement age 50.

At least 10 years of student intake thereby lost the benefit of being taught by this excellent teacher.

There appears to be no
official statistics the total cost to the UK economy in terms of people removed from the workplace because of chronic pain related illness like MS. However it is likely to be a large proportion of the 85,000 people in the UK with MS or the 2.7 million people currently on incapacity benefit.

Many thanks for your support and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! :-)
