As many of you sadly know, my sister Nikki passed away on 13th September 2007 after a brave and lengthy battle with Cancer.  

During Nikki’s prolonged illness, Nikki and my family received a great degree of support (in addition to the love and support she received from those closest and nearest to the family) from the Macmillan Cancer Support Nurses.  

Macmillan Nurses care for the whole person, not just the disease. They take into account not just the medical needs of people affected by cancer but the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have. They are there for their families too.  I am sure you will agree that this is a very worthwhile and charitable cause. 
About 30 of Nikki's family and close friends are taking part in the Great North Run in October 2008 to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support charty and I would therefore like to personally request that you dig deep in to your pockets, not only to assist in continuing in the great work that this organisation does, but in memory of Nikki.

Anything you can give is greatly appreciate.
