Thanks for visiting my fundraising page in support of the Child Welfare Scheme, whose mission statement is on the left of this page.
On the 1st August 2009, I will be undertaking a 166 kilometer trek with a total elevation of 9400 meters, known as the Tour du Mont Blanc. It is normally covered in 8 to 10days, however my colleague and hopefully still friend at the end of it, Bruce Harkness, suggested we challenge ourselves to finish it in just 72 hours. Averaging 55Kms per day, up and down some steep alpine ascents and descents, will define me as a man or a mouse (you may as well throw me the cheese now). We will do it unsupported and will carry everything we need ourselves, as we couldn't afford the sherpas!
Why am I doing it? Out of every 100 children in Nepal, 42 live below the poverty line, 48 will be malnourished and 7 will die before they are aged 5.
As the father of two healthy daughters, I did not need asking twice to take up this opportunity to make a small difference to the lives of these Nepalese youngsters. I hope to give some of them, the privileges my children enjoy.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: (CWS) Child Welfare Scheme gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me, as every single euro, pound or dollar will make a difference. Just 2.50 pounds can provide a life saving drug. Go on, I will do the suffering on your behalf.
Thanks Michael
