Story
As you may know, my partner's mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early February 2008. As there were no symptoms in the early stages and only vague symptoms when she went to her doctors in January, the cancer had already spread to her liver and surgery was not possible. She was given only a few months to live, but died on 20th February, just two weeks after diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers – approximately 3% of those diagnosed survive five years or more. There is no early detection test, treatment is limited and there is no cure. Because symptoms generally do not appear until the disease is well advanced, the average survival time after diagnosis is just six months. By sponsoring me to run the London 10k run, you are helping to raise funds to overcome this awful cancer.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund (www.pcrf.org.uk) who will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now, and help to raise funds in memory of Rita.
