I am participating in the Flora London Marathon to raise money for British Thyroid Foundation. I have always sopported campaigns but this will be the second Marathon. I am hoping to raise over £1200 for the Charity as well as realing an ambition to run the Flora London Marathon 2008.

What is the thyroid gland?

The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland. This means that it is a gland that manufactures certain hormones, which are chemical substances secreted into the blood-stream and act as messengers to affect cells and tissues in distant parts of your body.
