Hi, my names Mik, my wife Nikki and myself are doing a charity walk from Derby to Skegness starting on 22nd September 2010.We have given ourselves 4 days to complete this venture. We will be taking pictures along the way and hopefully a video.
Now the reason for this walk........well!!!! where do I begin...aaaah! Our daughter Donna Marie Shaw who is sweet 16 was diagnosed with Ewings sarcoma earlier this year.Ewings is a fairly rare bone cancer and spreads quite rapid.Donna has tumours in her skull, hips, spine and lungs. She has just completed her initial 6 chemo treatments and is currently waiting to start radiotherapy.Donna has shown real grit and courage in spite of this illness and her mother and I are very proud of her.She is a real fighter and committed to the task of beating this.
At times she has been to hell and back and her mum and I have seen the trauma from the beginning. At the moment there are so many people I'd like to mention but at the moment I'd like to say a big thank-you to all the family and friends who have, and still are, helping.
The charity walk is our way of raising money for the E38 ward at the Queens Med who incidently the staff are amazing and deserve a lot more respect than they receive at present.
The money raised will go towards the cost of much needed equipment so that the fight against cancer can continue to thrive.
All your donations however big or small will be gratefully received with all our hearts.
For now that is it but I will update very soon.
Thank-you all for your help.....Lets do this for Donna huh! waddya say?
