Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls,

I am running the 2010 Vienna City marathon on the 18th of April this year; in the hope to raise some money for a worthwhile charity and shed some pounds. It took me a while to decide on those who would benefit the most from doing this, but the charity (EACH) that I will be running this mammoth distance for, has been recommended to me by lots of people.

The East Anglia's Childrens Hospices (EACH) is a charity that supports families throughout their experience of caring for children with life-threatening conditions and complex healthcare needs. A charity that aims to ensure that children and their families have access to the very best healthcare and social-care facilities in the last days of a child's life.

Although I haven't been directly affected by the pain and distress that's associated with the families and children's lives that EACH helps, I would like to help raise cash/awareness for this amazing charity.

So here are the details about what I'm doing in order to raise the money for the kids!..

I am joining two of my very good friends to take up the absolutely ridiculous task of running a whole marathon (26.2 miles / 42.195 km / A very long way). A marathon described as being located in one of the most dangerous places on Earth... AUSTRIA.

Well known for its mountainous terrain around the Alps, Austria is famous for holding major luge and bobsled competitions, John Candy and the Jamaican Bobsled team is the most notable of these events. The Vienna city marathon course is actually one of the flattest and quickest in the world, Abel Kirui holding the fastest time; finishing in 2 hrs 07 minutes and 38 seconds in April 2008.

I wont be finishing that quickly, but I will be attempting to finish the marathon in a time between 3.5 - 4 hours which it is a feat which I believe can be achieved.

So if you could all try and make a donation, large or small, I would be extremely grateful.
