Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm fundraising again this year by doing the Light the Night walk on 4th October 2014 to try & raise more money for this great cause and in memory of my husband Mike and our friend Paula. After the fantastic Light the Night walks in 2012 and 2013,  it's a torchlit walk again in Ecclesall Woods, starting at 6.00pm. Last year's walk was a magical event, with so many amazing costumes and lighting effects. There were belly dancers, barber shop quartets and community choirs performing along the way, and the guest of honour was Jessica Ennis-Hill.  A group of friends & family are walking with me this year - why don't you join us? See more details and a video from last year  at http://www.wphcancercharity.org.uk/light_the_night.html

I first did the Walk as One walk on Sunday 16th October 2011 at Don Valley stadium to help raise money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity in memory of my husband Mike, who died on 16th July 2011 after a 2-year battle with bowel cancer. Mike was a talented and accomplished musician and dancer and loved playing saxophone for many dance teams in and around South Yorkshire. He is sadly missed by all of us, and we wanted to raise as much money as we could for the marvellous work done by Weston Park and its staff. I did that walk with our friend Paula Lucas, who Mike met while they were having chemo treatment together at Weston Park. Sadly Paula too lost her battle with cancer in June 2012 so I've been doing the Light the Night walks in celebration of her life too.
