Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Liver Disease Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
I started running again in October 2008 primarily to shed some weight but to also improve my fitness. I've already lost about 1 stone in weight and despite having a few problems with creaking knees have actually found myself enjoying it!
I did the Great North Run on 28 June 1981 with a time of 109 minutes - I can't see me getting anywhere near that time this year (I'll be happy to do inside 2 & 1/4 hrs) but wanted to focus on what is a pretty tough run and at the same time raise funds for a very worthy cause. In the meantime I completed a "warm up" run on 5 April of the much flatter (!) Paddock Wood Half Marathon in a time of 2hrs 10mins.
I understand some of you may be finding times hard with the dreadful credit crunch, but I would appreciate any donation you can make to support this fantastic charity which supports sick children and their families in the UK.
So please sponsor me now!
Footnote: I completed the GNR on 20 September in a time of 2hrs 16mins - it was a warm day and the tough course took its toll, however I came in 20824 overall from a field of 54000 so I'm reasonably content! Many thanks to everyone for their sponsorship and messages of support.
