Hello!!
Between the 31st of January and 11th of February 2010, I will be climbing Kilimanjaro with 14 other people from Autotrader. We're taking part in this gruelling exercise to raise money for Willowbrook Hospice, a wonderful charity in the St Helens area. The hospice provides palliative care to people with life limiting illnesses and support to their carers. You can find out more about their work here.
As for the mountain, it's really quite big. It's the highest point on the African continent and also the highest free-standing mountain in the world (5895m!!). All of which means it's pretty difficult to climb but hopefully interesting enough for you to give most generously to the hospice. Autotrader and the participants are sharing the cost of the trip so every penny raised by us will go straight to Willowbrook.
For those of you unfamiliar with online donations, here's the standard blurb from Justgiving. I've made donations with them quite a few times now and find them really useful :
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Take care all and please give generously!
Love,
Mike
