Thank you for visiting my Justgiving fundraising page.

Starting in September, I will be starting on the most gruelling task that I have ever set myself, and I'm sure that by the time that I have completed the events I will be asking myself why I ever started!! The simple answer is, for cancer, to help beat this disease which claims so many lives and affects so many others. I, like so many other people, have had my life repeatedly affected by cancer and the devastating effect it has on the people, families, who are left behind. All of this puts our own lives into perspective, and with this in mind, I want to do something. So I'm doing something that I do quite well, running, and something that I don't do quite so well, and am quite frankly terrified of, climbing great heights!!.

I aim to run 4 road marathons, one halfroad marathon  and climb Kilimanjaro, all one after the other, starting in Sep 2009 and finishing 8 months later in April 2010.

I want to raise as much money as possible for research:some forms of cancer are now a lot less scary than they were as scientists slowly discover ways to treat and prevent cancer growth, all down to research. This research needs money to keep on finding cures and giving hope. The difference with this task is that every single pound, raised through donation, will go to the cancer charity. I will be funding this myself, all expenses will be met, so everything raised will go direct to the charity without being used for flights, accomodation costs etc.

I need you to spread the word. With today's information systems, getting in contact with people and sending information has never been easier. One copy of a poster, explaining what I am doing and why, can be sent to all of your friends, relations, work colleagueses, employees, sport team mates, the list is endless, in a matter of seconds. PLEASE, in that message ENCOURAGE those people to pass it on to their contacts. We can start a chain of information so that this effort can generate as much interest, and therefore money, as possible. Who knows where it could end up? These marathons are taking place in Newcastle, Dublin, New York, Rome and London: we can spread the net as wide, get as much interest as possible, raising money from contacts all over the world. So please if you feel that the cause is worthwhile, BECOME PART OF IT, because it is not just me making the phyisical effort, this will become a full team effort involving us all, and each and everyone will have played their part, and eventually through OUR EFFORTS,  a cure will be discovered that will rid us of this terrible disease that brings so much pain and suffering.

Spread the message: GET INVOLVED! IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER.

Thanking you all in advance for all of your efforts.

Mike ( Johnny )
