Why your donation matters

As we brace ourselves for a freezing winter with seriously rising fuel bills, there are those older & more vulnerable people in Milton Keynes contemplating whether to HEAT or EAT!

MK Community Foundation are sending out a plea across Milton Keynes, to ask our local over 60’s who don’t rely on the payment if they could pledge to do the same, but everyone is urged support this cause by donating whatever they can afford to.

MK Community Foundation are partnering with Milton Keynes Age UK, YMCA & the Foodbank to reach people on the front line and ensure all funds we raise here will directly help vulnerable local people stay warm, eat well and remain mobile in the coming months.

Case study: donations in action

This is Katherine’s story in a letter we received from her mum:

Dear MK Community Foundation

When I came to your office recently, I saw a photo of my daughter in the Shed MK photo on your wall & it made me realise just how much Katherine has benefitted from your support.

Katherine has been an active member of SNUGS (Special Needs Unit Gymnastics) for the last 15 years. The club have received a number of MK Community Foundation grants for equipment, trampolines & leotards.

Katherine & her friends love Inter-Action MK’s Groovy Gecko Club, supported by a substantial MK Community Foundation grant, which is MK’s first club night run by & for people with learning disabilities.

Finally, Shed MK which Katherine joined when it first began. She has gone on to become a member of the Encompass theatre group & will soon be in a production of Mamma Mia at MK Theatre.

Our family life has been enriched by Katherine's experiences, we wanted to share this with you and to say Thank you!
