Following on from my work in 2008 and 2009, I am going on a mission to help some of the world's poorest people in the Dominican Republic. My trip is in Summer 2012, for 2 weeks which will be very intense and will involve a lot of hard work in very hot conditions. There is not always electricity on demand. I will be getting out there to do something worthwhile for the people.
I am excited about this trip as it will be the next challenge for me both physically and spiritually.
I will be part of a team that I have not yet met!
Our work will involve ministries such as:
Helping the labourers to further their building project (moving LOTS of heavy blocks!).
Other DIY related work such as painting, wheel barrowing, shovelling etc....as required at the time.
Visiting the poor people's hospital and clinic with gifts of medical and hygiene items.
It will be a privilege to partner with Rob and Tina Iannone for the third time. They are an inspiring Christian couple who have given up their comfortable life in Daytona Beach, Florida to live in the D.R. as they lovingly offer practical and spiritual help to the world's poorest people.
Working with the local churches.
Giving out food, water and gifts.
Working with the children and many other things.
Our team just join in with an existing work that is managed by the locals. We come alongside people, listen to their story and meet their needs. We want to love them in the way that God loves them.
We will also be showing them the Jesus video as we are a group of Christians who want to tell others about our wonderful faith, so that they too can have the opportunity to choose to turn to God if they want to.
