Against Breast Cancer are working to prevent secondary breast cancer by funding unique research into the development of new treatments, including ultimately a vaccine; improving upon current blood tests; and assessing diet and lifestyle for factors that increase the risk of secondary breast cancer.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

As some of you may know I am off to "climb" Kilimanjaro at the end of September.   I will be going with a group of fantastic girls, Suzy Deeley, Jose Golding, Monica Harper, Els Deeley and Laura Holden.  We have spent many a weekend racing up to the Peaks or down to Dartmoor as part of training for Kilimanjaro and we have laughed our way up many a hill in the past months and on a lot of rainy days!

I've chosen Against Breast Cancer as its locally based charity who are very active investing a lot of time into lifestyle research and wonderful fund-raising events all over Oxfordshire.  My aim is to raise £500 so please give generously!

Against Breast Cancer is a charity based in Harwell, Oxfordshire, that funds breast cancer research into long-term survival.

What we are doing that other charities are not:

* The Against Breast Cancer research team has a unique approach to breast cancer in that it looks at the whole woman; her tumour, her response to the tumour and her environment.
* The research is also different in that it works with human tissue rather than animal models.
* We are also actively recruiting women to take part in our prospective
Diet and Lifestyle Study. The research actually works with women who already have breast cancer, finding ways to maximise their survival.
* Our emphasis on prevention of secondary spread of the disease is a novel approach in breast cancer research.

The Against Breast Cancer research team, led by Dr Anthony Leathem, is based at University College London Hospitals. With 40 ABC units around the UK
