Story
Hello Everyone,
We have for some bizarre reason volunteered to compete in Safe@Lasts ‘Not so strictly come dancing’ event for 2015. For those of you who know Mollie, this is laughable – having had more than my fair share of broken bones and being renowned at school for being so clumsy … this is going to be a challenge.
For the next 10 weeks we will be intensely training with professional dancer to ‘perfect’ the Jive and Waltz along with 13 other couples, which on April 25th we will be performing at the Magna centre in front of around 600 people.
The reason is we are wanting to do this, with the help of our very generous friends and family, is to support Safe@Last an incredible charity which works to prevent children in South Yorkshire running away. Safe@Last was founded in 2000 after the founder Hilary Masserella saw a documentary about a 14 year old runaway who found herself having to prostitute herself in a Lorry park to earn enough money to avoid having to go home.
SAFE@LAST now has 25 staff members and many volunteers. They provide a 24 hour Helpline, a Missing Young People’s service, a Preventative education programme, Detached Street Work Project, Family Support and, most remarkably of all, the only Refuge in the UK for children and young people who are 16 and under. The young people presented to Safe@Last come with many complex issues including neglect, physical abuse, self harming, conflict and violence at home, sexual exploitation and mental health problems to name just a few.
Please do dig deep and give generously, for those of you wanting to buy tickets to come and watch us, tickets are £30 and include a two course dinner and great entertainment on the night of April 25th 2015 at Magna Centre in Rotherham.
Get in touch if you have any questions and thank you xxx
