We give children living in poverty support to break their cycle of poverty

Story

http://www.MongolBikers.com

This summer myself and my team member James will be setting off on the charity Mongol Rally, a 8000-10000 mile rally around the globe, starting in Hyde Park 21st July and finishing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, to raise at least £1,000 for Christina Noble Children’s Foundation and Mercy Corps Mongolia. Two hundred teams will be spending their summers in an effort to raise a quarter of a million pounds for charitable causes, and we were hoping that you would take interest in our cause.

The one big difference about the Mongol Rally than other rallies is the rules: cars may not exceed 1(one) litre, and bikes no more than 125cc. This makes the journey worthy of the sponsorship due to the endurance experienced by the riders.

The acceptable means of taking part in the rally is by going by car. Both myself and my team-mate do not consider that taking the acceptable means is an acceptable option, hence why we wish to go by bike, along with only one other bike team out of the 200 entrants. Last year one man made it by Honda C90.

The Christina Noble Childrens Foundation
continues to change the lives of disadvantaged children in Mongolia. Here are a few of the projects they are currently running:

- The Sponsorship Program helps families who are in danger of splitting up or where children may drop out of school due to poverty. The family receives sponsorship for a child as long as he/she is living with them and in full-time education.

- The Sunshine Ger Village Project provides a shelter for street children and orphans in Ulaanbaatar. The shelter consists of 11 gers and a kindergarten.

-Healthcare Project operates a clinic at the Charity Hospital five days a week, to provide free health care and medication to the children in the sponsorship program and street children. A mobile night clinic for street children travels the city's streets, bringing emergency medical treatment, advice and treats to abandoned children.

- Give a Ger Campaign is an emergency fund established to provide families in danger of becoming homeless, or otherwise inadequately or dangerously accommodated, with a family home of a Mongolian Ger.
