Thank you for visiting the fundraising page of David Glanville and Jim Mason!

We are planning to drive to Baku, Azerbaijan, to watch Wales play in their upcoming 2010 World Cup qualifying match, in aid of the Welsh football fan charity Gôl (http://www.golcymru.org/). This excellent charity provides aid to young people, in particular orphans, in countries across Europe.

The trip is part of Gôl's "Baku or Bust" - an event that will see several Welsh football fans drive old cars from home to the game in Azerbaijan. The rest of the teams will leave Cardiff on Saturday 23rd May 2009, but due to work constraints we will not set off until Friday 29th. We will be driving our recently acquired Ford Granada Scorpio (pictured).

We will speed down to Dover to catch the evening ferry before heading through Central Europe across Germany and Austria. We will continue through the Balkans and aim to be within reach of Turkey by the end of the weekend. We hope to catch the other participants around Ankara and travel in convoy along the coast of the Black Sea before crossing into Georgia. Here we will be welcomed in Kutasi (twinned with Newport) and make a final border crossing into Azerbaijan, with the hope of reaching the Tofik Bakhramov Stadium in time for kick-off on Saturday 6th June. The car will be sold off in further aid of local good causes.

The trip will include visits to orphanages en route to donate clothing, sports equipment and money to those in need. So we are appealing for help in this respect! We are looking to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause. Every penny donated on this site will go directly to Gôl, so please give as generously as you can!
