Charles and Celia are trying to raise money to pay for a new nurse specialist on the leukaemia ward at Barts because of the first hand experience the family had of this role. The nurse specialist provides day to day practical support and care throughout the patient’s journey, whether in hospital or during spells at home, and helps both patient and family to navigate through the often complex and impersonal systems.
We are hoping to raise enough money to fund a new nurse specialist for at least two years, after which time, Barts and The London NHS Trust are almost certain to fund the role permanently.
