Wild Futures is a UK registered charity founded on over six decades of experience as a leader in the field of primate welfare and conservation, environmental education, and sustainable practice. We also operate a sanctuary, caring for unwanted and neglected monkeys in need of a safe home for life.

Story

I would walk five hundred miles, and I would walk five hundred more, to be....

Well, five hundred kilometres anyway...thank you for visiting my fundraising page. As you may or may not know, I work for the Monkey Sanctuary down in sunny Cornwall and we are in the process of fundraising to build new enclosures for monkeys in need of rescue from sad and lonely lives as pets in the UK. We have recently rehomed 3 monkeys, Mickey, Tanya and Jackie, and we are hoping to house up to 10 more monkeys in the next three years. That's where you guys, a decent pair of walking shoes and a Spanish phrasebook come in.

There is an ancient route through Northern Spain called the Pilgrim's Trail (or the Camino Frances) which spans about 800 kilometres and I have come up with the genius idea that if I walk (some of) it then I can perhaps make some money and perhaps raise enough to build a new enclosure which means we can look after more monkeys and, if you sponsor me, you can get that warm glow that you get when you know you've done something nice for someone!

So, I decided on the nice, round figure of 500k which I hope to complete in 3 weeks. This will take me from Burgos to Santiago and should be a fantastic experience, whilst making some much-needed funds for a cause which is very close to my heart. Any donations to my target total (which is the approximate cost of an outdoor enclosure for up to 4 or 5 monkeys) will be hugely appreciated, as would you forwarding my link to anyone that might like to give to this well-deserving cause. Many, many thanks, Liz and the monkeys x For more info on the Monkey Sanctuary Trust and its work visit www.monkeysanctuary.org or call 01503 262 532 Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Monkey Sanctuary Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
